did i really just buy a LT set and then spend 13 hours mucking with it?
And I haven't put it back together yet either. That'll be a job... i heard
a few things fly out when I finally got it open (took about 15 minutes, it's
solidly built!) So far I've managed to toast the main IR emitter, the
drive circuit, and the speaker (and replaced them all... lucky i have
lotsa spare parts!) Yes, I was trying to increase the power... dunno how
I smoked the speaker though, since I wasn't working on that part of the
system. Finally came to the conclusion that I can only safely double
the beam power, which will merely increase the range by about 40% :-(
Of course, I *do* have a couple of laser diodes around, but then the drive
circuit for *those* would take up a bit 'o room...

Insomniac Starlight
Diagnosis: WHEEE!!!
We depart SCO to avoid problems with security... we're booted from a
park by the police... then, a nice lazer tag game at Harvey West followed
by an exciting couple of hours as the police chase us into the forest!
Spotlights shining hither and thither, police running this way and that,
drunkards daring the cops to catch them as they run into the woods where
we also happen to be hiding... oooh BABY!!! And only found one bite so far
from laying low behind trees...

Subject: The End of Lazer Tag at Mission...
Date: Fri Sep 9 11:03:34 1988
(sorry that some of you get this twice)
Engineering,
Now and then a manager is required to do things that he does not
particularly want to do or that is unpleasant, and this is one of
those times. I have given this much thought and was hoping this
activity would calm down. It has not, so I am asking that laser
tag be stopped at the Mission Facility.
There are several reasons for this request including; numerous
complaints from employees who are trying to work during these games,
Facilities complaints about damage to doors, walls, wires pulled down
from the walls, offices being locked, emergency lighting unplugged,
and on and on. The event that convinced me that it is time to stop
laser tag, was an individual being injured badly enough that emergency
room attention was required.
I am sorry that this action is necessary. While I have not actually
participated in any of the games, it sounds like real fun.
Bruce
(incindentaly, Bruce is the VP at Mission street. He offered
me a beer during our interview and finished one just before
while interviewing someone else. Fairly laid back...)

OK. I mailed Steeve, so you're on the LT aliases now. Funny, there
are dozens of Taggers playing, but you got your set before any of them...
yours was the first set I saw. The current fad was started when WOW went
bankrupt, so toy stores (particularly KayBees) slashed the price for the
LT sets. Someone from SCO saw it, and the rest, as they say, is history...

annoy large crouds of people by mail with very little trouble!
Soon to be added is ucscc!ucscb!boborob/boborob@ucscb, but
before I added him, I wanted to get an actual name... I

Got killed early in a lazer tag game, so i wandered over to Porter
to see if Sluggos was open. Naturally I was wearing my all-black outfit
and gun... Comment heard as I passed some freshlings:
"Oh my god.. that's the second person I've seen dressed that way...
what are they, Nazis?"

Message #28 Wed, Oct 26, 1988 8:22 pm
From: Buck Rogers
Subject: Well, since I started this modification business...
I feel compelled to put a cap on it. It seems too late to "go back",
so I propose that modifications and weapon combinations be limited to those
that have already been made, i.e., the only modifications you can make and
still play with us are
a) remove lens to give shotgun effect
OR
b) increase power and/or firing rate.
In other words you cannot combine the shotgun effect with increased power
or firing rate. Also, you cannot modify the functioning of the rifles in any
way.
As for weapon combinations, since it seems that the carrying of both a
rifle and a shotgun has been accepted, I suggest that we disallow the carrying
of a modified pistol along with a regular pistol at any time, and that we also
ban the carrying of a rifle and a pistol modified to increase firing rate or
power.
I realize that this is somewhat arbitrary; I'm simply trying to stop this
where it is now. Let me know what you think.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do it!
and how much do Iowe you?
And do you except checks?
and if so how do you spell your last name?
